The Amherst Central School District is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Technology. The successful candidate will have experience in both classroom teaching and administration. Other key factors required are the ability to provide instructional leadership, communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the school and community, and participate as a collaborative member of the administrative team. Amherst Central School District has consistently ranked in the top ten school districts in the entire Western New York region.
Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent provides leadership and coordination of the instructional programs of the district in accordance with Board objectives and policies. The Assistant Superintendent supervises the translation of the District's educational philosophy, goals and objectives into active terms that directly benefit each individual student and staff member.
• New York State Certification as a School District Administrator or School District Leader • Successful experience as a New York State teacher (preferred) • Successful experience as a building leader (preferred) • Well versed in best practice pedagogy and educational leadership skills • Possesses in-depth experience with curriculum development, implementation and evaluation • Demonstrates leadership ability working with students, staff, parents and the community • Demonstrates outstanding communication skills • Understands instructional strategies and staff development techniques • Demonstrates and applies a thorough understanding of technology and its role in instruction • Has a full command of New York State Education Department regulations including APPR • Provide record of improving student performance

About Amherst Central School District
The Amherst Central School District is comprised of two elementary schools, Windermere Boulevard and Smallwood Drive. There is one middle school and one high school.
Smallwood Drive School serves approximately 650 students from kindergarten through grade 5. Windermere Boulevard School serves approximately 680 students from kindergarten through grade 5. The middle school houses grades 6 – 8 and has enrollment of approximately 670 students. The high school, our oldest building, houses 850 students in grades 9 – 12, and offers a variety of courses including numerous advanced placement courses.
Amherst has adopted an expansive plan to incorporate state-of-the-art equipment into every phase of the educational system. Integrated learning environments will enhance the teaching process in vital new ways encouraging problem solving, exploration and creativity in the classroom. In 2017, Amherst Central High School averaged a 95% graduation rate with 87% of its 2017 grads continuing their ...education at a college or university and 10% entering military or advanced career and tech program. The Board of Cooperative Services (BOCES) provides special occupational and vocational education for some of our students, as well as students of 18 other subscribing school districts. There are 299 faculty members and support staff of about 239. The average teacher’s salary is above the median for the surrounding area.
