The Schalmont Central School District is currently accepting applications for the position of School Business Administrator. The District is located in Schenectady County and serves approximately 1,850 students with a $48.6 million budget.
Includes the organization, development and management of those aspects of business and finance which support and enhance the organization’s ability to provide quality and cost effective educational programs and services;
Supervise the daily operations of the Business Department, including accounting, receivables, payables and payroll functions;
Oversight responsibilities for Building and Grounds, Transportation and Food Service Departments, offering assistance and/or direction to department heads when needed.
Performs related fiscal/administrative functions to ensure effective internal controls and efficient district financial operations.
Prepares financial and statistical reports for the Board of Education, administration and state agencies;
Act as Purchasing Agent for the district
Serves as School District Clerk
Facilitates budget process including calendar and leading Budget Advisory Committee
Preparation, implementation and monitoring of school district budgets.
Evaluates organizational workflow and makes recommendations for the improvement and efficiency of procedures;
Supervises the maintenance of equipment inventory and related controls;
Manages property and casualty insurance programs and workers compensation insurance programs;
Supervises the bidding process, including the writing of specifications, the placing of advertisements, the bid opening and the follow through on contract awards;
Develop suggested policy revision in keeping with appropriate laws in fund accounting, including extra classroom and other public funds.
Other duties as assigned. Directly reports to Superintendent of Schools

NYS certification as a School District Administrator (SDA), School District Business Leader (SDBL) or School Business Administrator (SBA) (Preferred)
Minimum 5 years financial experience in a school district setting; including budgeting and business office operations. (Preferred)
Experience with Finance Management/nVision software preferred
Ability to communicate verbal and written ideas clearly
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others
