About Cooperstown Central School District
Cooperstown Central School District has 880 students housed in two buildings on a 44-acre campus on the village’s southern edge. The District offers K through 12 academic programs supplemented with a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. Over the past several years, capital projects have improved and upgraded many aspects of district facilities thanks to the support of the community and utilization of State funding sources.
At present, the Elementary School runs a traditional self-contained program in grades K-6. Instruction in fifth and sixth grade is departmentalized by teacher specialty. Teachers, along with support staff, emphasize acquisition of strong foundational skills with opportunities for enrichment that prepare students to function as a meaningfully engaged member of society.
In the Junior-Senior High School, approximately 430 students in grades 7-12 learn from classes offered from a robust and relevant offering of 90 courses. Students also have opportunities to take Advanced Placement, honors level, and dual credit courses. Historically, over 86 percent of the senior class continues to higher education.
The school community is supported by seve...ral affiliated organizations such as the Cooperstown Foundation for Excellence in Education, Cooperstown Parent Teacher Association, Friends of Music and Art, and Sports Boosters.
