The Harrison Central School District is seeking a talented and visionary leader with extensive experience in all facets of school finance to become the Assistant Superintendent for Business and build on a tradition of educational innovation and strategic financial management. Superintendent for Business is an integral member of the Superintendent's Executive Cabinet.
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Superintendent for Business, the business operations of the Harrison Central School District have been consistently recognized to be among the best in New York State. In addition to successfully passing budgets every year for more than twenty years and earning public support for a $46.5 Million bond project, the District has received a AAA rating from Standard & Poor's every year for more than twelve years and the business office has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting by GFOA and ASBO International for eleven consecutive years. Responsibilities include overseeing all financial, facilities, transportation, and food service operations of the District including but not limited to:
Reports to superintendent and Board and Education
Preparing and administering the District budget and presentations.
Facilitating the Budget Advisory Committee with the Board Budget Chairperson.
Coordinating and overseeing all audits (e.g., annual, internal, claims, OSC, or other).
Preparing all necessary responses and corrective action plans to governmental agencies.
Overseeing all accounting operations including receivables, payables, payroll, general ledger, and internal control procedures.
Preparing periodic updates of Fund Balance projections for the Board (critical during budget preparation) and preparing monthly reports and comments on financial position.
Working closely with the Superintendent to strategically plan the most beneficial outcome for the budget using the tax levy cap formula.
Working closely with Human Resources to monitor staff hiring to budget plan, and with the Special Education Department. on high cost placements and STAC filings.
Serving as co-lead negotiator during the collective bargaining process.
Working closely with the Director of Facilities on facility/grounds needs, and on budget development.
Coordinating Facility Committee meetings as needed.
Overseeing the district's student transportation operation with the assistance of the Transportation Coordinator.
Managing the contractual and financial operation of the food service program, as well as all State reporting requirements. Participate in monthly meetings with Aramark.
