The Frontier Central School District is seeking a strong instructional leader of unquestioned integrity with a record of accomplishments to lead its district of 5,000 students housed in 6 schools. Supporting the students are a staff of 415 K-12 teachers, 20 administrators and 330 support staff. Located in Hamburg, New York, a growing suburban town south of Buffalo, the district has realized high student academic success built on a foundation of well qualified staff and supportive family and community involvement.
This is a confidential search process. Only the successful candidate will be named publicly and only after a signed contract is completed and Board of Education approved. School budgets have had a 71% approval rate by the community.
The Board has set a minimum salary of $180,000 which could increase based on experience and qualifications.
The application deadline is March 12, 2021 followed by semi-finalist interviews on March 29-April 1 and finalist interviews on April 12-16.
All students possess district provided chrome books to use on Google Classroom assignments. Professional development is provided and highly used.
The district is located 15 minutes south of Buffalo and 20 minutes from Buffalo-Niagara International Airport. It borders 25 miles of Lake Erie shoreline which offers biking and fitness trails, kayaking, year round fishing and wonderful summer boating. It is a regional home to many industrial workplaces, medical companies and institutions of higher education.
Cultural opportunities include the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Shea's Performing Arts Center, Albright-Knox Art Museum, Buffalo Zoo and Niagara Falls.
Residents attend games of the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and Buffalo Bandits (lacrosse). Numerous public and private golf courses are in the district. Major highways make for an easy commute. Nationally ranked medical facilities provide excellent health opportunities.
Prior Superintendent experience is preferred. Prior Central Office level experience as well as prior building principalship and/or building administrative experience is required. Prior teaching experience is preferred. District residency is not required but desired.
There must be a strong commitment to improving student success. He/she must be capable of developing communication plans that build support for the district's mission and goals. He/she must be committed to involving others in the decision-making process. It is most important that the new Superintendent possess the quality of courage to make decisions based on what’s best for students. Finally he/she must have the ability to clearly identify problems and develop effective solutions.
