The Board of Education of the New Hartford Central School District invites interested, highly-qualified educators to submit applications for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The search process will be conducted over the next several months. The successful candidate should be available to assume the position on or about October 1, 2021. This is a fully confidential search for all applicants, from receipt of application through appointment to the superintendency. The Board is being assisted in the selection by Patricia N. Kilburn, Ed.D., District Superintendent of the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES, who will work with the Board to screen applicants and make recommendations regarding candidates. The Board will make all decisions concerning the selection process, the evaluation of candidates and the final appointment. Salary will be commensurate with experience, qualifications and educational background of the successful candidate. The school district is comprised of five schools - three elementary, one junior high and one senior high school - located on 110 acres of developed sites including two complete athletic fields for all sports and activities, an all-weather track, a competition size swimming pool and smaller teaching pool, and enrollment of approximately 2,564 students. The District has a staff of approximately 250 teachers, 156 non-instructional staff and 11 administrators. The teaching staff are experienced and highly qualified at all levels.The New Hartford Teacher Resource and Computer Training Center provides support for professional development.

The successful candidate will have a broad range of experience that encompasses grades K-12 with proven leadership in educational administration. The candidate should be experienced in community relations, have a strong background in curriculum and instruction and school finance and budgeting. The candidate should be a dynamic, visionary leader with outstanding communication, problem solving and planning skills, and must possess or be eligible to obtain New York State Certification as a School District Administrator (SDA). Residency in the New Hartford Central School District is preferred. Salary range commensurate with experience.
